Our Mission

To be the leading advocate for breeds such as pit bulls that often are left behind or ignored by other shelters. To provide high quality medical care for all animals and to offer financial assistance to those pet owners that cannot otherwise afford vet services. To match responsible pet seekers with their next best friend in order to find the perfect home for the animals in our care.

Vision Statement

We strive to become the best animal welfare organization in the Lehigh Valley. We seek to break down any and all financial barriers for those who seek to become forever companions for the animals in our care. We will work to reduce the number of homeless animals in the Lehigh Valley by educating the community, offering low cost medical services and through our adoption processes. We will continue to support prosecution of any and all reported animal cruelty cases and rescue and rehabilitate all animals that suffer from cruelty situations.

We are 24/7

The Lehigh Valley Humane Society is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit and a 24/7 organization. We rescue, rehabilitate, and find loving forever homes for over 3,000 abandoned and unwanted animals per year. We provide high quality veterinary care, behavioral enrichment and foster placement for the pets in our care. The LVHS also offers lost pet services, pet surrender services, dog training, and grooming. We are the only organization in the Lehigh Valley to offer a full-service Community Vet Clinic, which brings affordable vet care to owned pets. The LVHS employs the only Humane Society Police Officer in Lehigh County, who is dedicated to investigating cases of animal cruelty or neglect within the county. We also run a Community Cat Program, which spays/neuters and vaccinates feral and free-roaming cats in the City of Allentown at no charge to residents. Within our adoption program, our full-time Adoption Specialist works hard to ensure that our animals are adopted into loving homes that are just right for them.
