Surrendering Your Animal

There are many reasons why people may need to surrender their pets, including unexpected financial difficulties, moving to a new home, family conflict, busy work schedules, pet behavior problems and more. Because of this, we offer a caring and compassionate pet surrender program in a judgement free zone. If you are finding it difficult to maintain the love and care for your pet, please fill out the questionnaire below and our team will be in contact with you shortly.

All owner surrenders must be scheduled in advance.

Please be advised that we cannot take animals with behavioral issues (this includes animal aggression, human aggression, dog reactivity, resource guarding, barrier frustration, and on leash reactivity) or bite histories of any kind.

If your pet displays any of the above mentioned behaviors and you would like to discuss owner requested euthanasia with our clinic team, please call 610-797-1205 option 1.

The Next Steps After submitting form

  • You will be automatically be placed on a waiting list. Surrenders are approved as kennel space opens up.

  • Once we have space for your pet we will schedule an appointment.

At the Lehigh Valley Humane Society; we advocate for the well-being of all animals. We believe that our Surrender Policy will help all animals receive proper care and respect as they transition to their new forever home!

We will do everything we can to help keep your forever friend in your home.

In the event a pet is surrendered to the shelter, we will then act as the sole responsible party and caretaker for the pet.

When surrendering an animal, LVHS does ask for a surrender fee to help care for your pet. The surrender fee for dogs is $158 and for cats or small animals the fee is $105.
